Visual Sitemap Generator Tools: Best Options For 2026

5/5 - (5 votes)

Every website redesign I have worked on hit the same wall in week one. Someone pastes the XML sitemap into a shared doc, 1,400 lines of URLs scroll past, and the client asks the only question that matters: what does our site actually look like? A list of URLs leaves that question hanging. Ten minutes in a visual sitemap generator answers it on one screen.

This guide explains what visual sitemaps are, where they help SEO, whether Google or AI search engines read them, and how they differ from text sitemaps. Then I compare the eight visual sitemap generator tools I would pick in October 2026, with prices checked against vendor pages.

What Is a Visual Sitemap Generator?

A visual sitemap is a diagram of a website. Each page sits in a box, and lines connect parent pages to child pages, so the hierarchy reads top to bottom like an org chart. Home sits at the top, main sections hang below it, and deeper pages branch out from there.

A visual sitemap generator builds that diagram for you. The better tools work two ways: they crawl a live website and draw the existing structure automatically, many with a screenshot of each page, or they let you drag boxes onto a canvas to plan a site still on the drawing board. Some, like Relume and Octopus.do, now draft a full sitemap from a one line AI prompt.

Why a Visual Sitemap Generator Matters for SEO

A visual sitemap stays off Google entirely. Its SEO value comes from what it shows the people making decisions about the site.

  • Click depth becomes obvious. A product page sitting five levels down jumps off a diagram in a way a crawl export hides. Pages buried that deep collect less internal link equity and get crawled less frequently.
  • Orphan pages and dead ends show up. A crawl based map reveals sections with zero links pointing in, and pages that link nowhere.
  • Topic clusters take shape. Planning a pillar page with its supporting articles on a canvas makes gaps in coverage visible before anyone writes a word. Our guide to topical authority explains why that structure pays off.
  • Migrations go smoother. Mapping the old site against the new one, page by page, is the cleanest way to build a redirect plan and avoid losing rankings.
  • Clients and developers agree faster. A diagram settles navigation debates in one meeting, which keeps SEO priorities in the build from day one.

Does Google Search Need a Visual Sitemap Generator?

Google Search runs on XML alone. Google reads three sitemap formats: XML, RSS or Atom feeds, and plain text files with one URL per line, and it treats them equally (Google lays out the formats). Each file holds up to 50,000 URLs or 50MB uncompressed, and Google treats a submitted sitemap as a hint about what to crawl.

A visual sitemap is a PDF, PNG or interactive diagram meant for humans, and Googlebot gains zero from it. What you need for Google is an XML sitemap submitted in Search Console. The visual version helps you design the structure that the XML file and your internal links then express to Google.

Do AI Search Engines Use Visual Sitemap Generator Output?

AI search engines also skip visual sitemaps and rely on the same machine readable files as classic search. Bing, which feeds Microsoft Copilot and grounds answers for other AI tools, called sitemaps a foundational signal for full URL coverage in its July 2025 guidance for AI powered search (Bing Webmaster Blog). Bing uses the lastmod date to decide which pages to recrawl, ignores changefreq and priority, and recommends IndexNow for instant updates.

So the indirect link holds here too. AI crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Claude-SearchBot follow links and sitemaps the same way search crawlers do. A clean structure, planned visually and published as XML with accurate lastmod dates, gets your pages found and refreshed. If you want to see which of your pages AI tools already quote, our guide to finding pages Claude cites and our list of AI visibility tracking tools help.

Text vs Visual Sitemaps: How a Visual Sitemap Generator Differs

The same site as an XML sitemap for crawlers and as a visual sitemap for people.

The two work as a pair. Plan and audit the structure visually, then publish it as XML. Many of the tools below export XML too, which closes the loop.

How I Scored These Visual Sitemap Generator Tools

Each tool earned up to 2 points in five areas: crawling an existing site, planning and editing on a canvas, SEO features such as metadata and content audits, price for a freelancer or small team, and collaboration and export options.

The 8 Best Visual Sitemap Generator Tools in 2026

1. Slickplan

Score9.2/10
PlansBasic $10.79, Pro $31.49, Team $62.99, Agency $103.49 a month (annual rate)
Users1 on Basic, 3 on Pro, 10 on Team, unlimited on Agency
Crawler and Content PlannerPro and above
TrialFree trial, card free

Slickplan is the most complete planning suite on this list, and the one I reach for on client redesigns. The sitemap builder sits next to a Content Planner, a Diagram Maker for user flows and simple design mockups, so the whole site plan lives in one project (plan details).

Pick Pro at minimum. Basic leaves out the crawler and Content Planner, which are the two features that make Slickplan worth paying for in SEO work. Ten users on Team for about $63 a month is strong value for an agency.

2. VisualSitemaps

Score9.0/10
Free plan25 page crawls a month, card free
Paid plansFrom $22 a month billed annually
Crawl extrasHD desktop and mobile screenshots, password protected and staging sites
ExportsPDF, XML, CSV, JSON, plus Figma import

VisualSitemaps does one thing better than anyone: it crawls a live site and returns a map with a real screenshot of every page. For an SEO audit, seeing thin pages and duplicate templates as thumbnails beats any spreadsheet. It handles password protected dashboards and staging sites with encrypted credentials, which helps before a launch.

The Pro plan adds AI reports that flag structural issues, topical gaps and SEO, UX and AEO opportunities, plus scheduled crawls that track changes over time (the VisualSitemaps feature list). Cancel Pro and your maps stay on the free plan.

3. Octopus.do

Free plan1 user, 1 project, unlimited editors, with zero time limit
Paid plansPro $14, Team $20 per user a month billed annually; $16 and $24 monthly
SEO toolsMetadata editing on Pro
IntegrationsFigma sync

Octopus.do is the fastest way from a blank page to a sitemap a client signs off on. Blocks inside each page card sketch the sections of that page, which turns the sitemap into a low fidelity wireframe at the same time. Pro adds SEO metadata editing, Figma sync and password protection (2026 pricing capture).

It fits small and mid sized sites best. For a 3,000 page ecommerce audit, a crawl first tool like VisualSitemaps or DYNO Mapper does the heavy lifting better.

4. DYNO Mapper

Pages per crawl2,500 on Lite up to 25,000 on Organization
ExtrasContent inventory, content audit, accessibility testing, keyword tracking, AI sitemap generator
Trial14 days

DYNO Mapper is the audit tool of the group. Beyond the visual map it builds a full content inventory, runs accessibility tests, tracks keyword rankings and connects to GA4 and Looker Studio, so the sitemap doubles as an SEO dashboard (plan grid). Large sites with thousands of pages get the most from it.

The price reflects that depth. Lite starts at $39 a month for one user, so freelancers planning small brochure sites will find better value in Octopus.do or FlowMapp.

5. FlowMapp

Score8.6/10
Free plan1 project, 2 sitemaps, 1 user flow
Paid plansPro $15, Team $35, Agency $99 a month
Pro includesAI sitemap generator, Figma integration, PNG, XML, PDF and CSV export
TeamUp to 25 members in one workspace

FlowMapp pairs sitemaps with user flows, which helps when the SEO plan and the conversion path need to live side by side. The AI sitemap generator on Pro drafts a structure from a description, and the XML export hands the result straight to a developer (Toolradar verified the plans in October 2026).

Team at $35 a month for up to 25 people is one of the best deals here for a growing agency. FlowMapp skips crawling live sites, so pair it with Screaming Frog when you audit an existing build.

6. Relume

Score8.5/10
Free plan1 project, 1 page, Figma export
Export plansStarter $18, Pro $40 per user a month; Team $36 per user, 3 seat minimum, billed yearly
AIPrompt to sitemap, wireframes and styled design
ExportsFigma, Webflow, React

Relume turns a prompt into a sitemap, then into wireframes, then into a styled design. In one documented test, a single prompt produced a brief, sitemap, wireframes and two design themes in under four minutes (SaaS CRM Review ran the test). For new sites built in Webflow or Figma, that speed changes how projects start.

Relume plans new sites and leaves auditing existing ones to other tools. Use it to draft the structure, then check the plan against keyword research before you build.

7. Screaming Frog SEO Spider

PriceFree up to 500 URLs; $279 a year per licence
VisualisationsCrawl tree and directory tree diagrams, force directed and tree layouts
SEO dataStatus codes, titles, canonicals, internal links, click depth
PlatformDesktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux

Screaming Frog is a crawler first, and its Site Visualisations feature, available in both free and paid versions (pricing page), draws your site as a crawl tree or directory tree. Colour coding by status code or click depth makes problem areas jump out, and every node carries the full SEO data behind it.

The diagrams are built for analysis, so they look technical next to Slickplan or Octopus.do. For client presentations, export the crawl and rebuild the map in a planning tool.

8. Rarchy

Score8.1/10
Free planAvailable
Paid plansTeam $40.83, Agency $207.50 a month billed annually
FeaturesVisual sitemaps and user flows for agencies and teams

Rarchy is built for agencies running many client projects at once, with visual sitemaps and user flows in a shared workspace (2026 pricing capture). The free plan lets you test it on a real project before committing, and the Team plan fits a studio that plans several sites a month.

What a Visual Sitemap Generator Costs Over a Year

I priced each tool for two common buyers using the cheapest billing option. The freelancer gets the entry plan with the features an SEO needs; the agency case assumes five people. Screaming Frog assumes five separate licences, and Rarchy assumes its Team plan covers five people.

Year One Cost for a Freelancer (Calculated From Published Prices)

ToolPlanYear One Cost
Octopus.doPro$168
FlowMappPro$180
RelumeStarter (export)$216
VisualSitemapsPaid entry plan$264
Screaming Frog1 licence$279
SlickplanPro (crawler included)$378
DYNO MapperLite$468
RarchyTeam$490

Year One Cost for a Five Person Agency (Calculated From Published Prices)

ToolPlanYear One CostPer Person
FlowMappTeam, up to 25 people$420$84
RarchyTeam$490$98
SlickplanTeam, up to 10 users$756$151
DYNO MapperStandard, unlimited users$1,188$238
Octopus.doTeam, 5 seats$1,200$240
Screaming Frog5 licences$1,395$279
RelumeTeam, 5 seats$2,160$432

The spread is wide. A five person agency pays $420 a year on FlowMapp Team and $2,160 on Relume Team, a gap of $1,740. Per seat pricing (Octopus.do, Relume, Screaming Frog) gets expensive as teams grow, while flat team plans (FlowMapp, Slickplan, DYNO Mapper Standard) get cheaper per person with every hire.

Visual Sitemap Generator FAQs

What Is a Visual Sitemap?

A visual sitemap is a diagram of a website that shows every page as a box connected to its parent and child pages, so the hierarchy and page depth read at a glance. It is a part of technical SEO.

Does a Visual Sitemap Help SEO Rankings?

Indirectly. Google ignores the diagram itself, and the structure decisions it leads to, such as shallower click depth, stronger internal links and complete topic clusters, improve how search engines crawl and rank your pages.

Should I Submit a Visual Sitemap to Google Search Console?

Submit XML only. Search Console accepts XML, RSS or Atom, and text sitemaps. Export an XML sitemap from your CMS or visual sitemap generator and submit that.

Do ChatGPT and Perplexity Read Sitemaps?

AI search crawlers discover pages through links and XML sitemaps, the same way search crawlers do. Bing, which grounds Copilot answers, calls sitemaps a foundational signal for AI search coverage.

What Is the Best Free Visual Sitemap Generator?

Octopus.do offers a free plan with zero time limit for one project, VisualSitemaps crawls 25 pages a month for free, and Screaming Frog draws crawl diagrams free up to 500 URLs.

What Is the Difference Between an HTML Sitemap and a Visual Sitemap?

An HTML sitemap is a page of links on your website that visitors and crawlers follow. A visual sitemap is a planning diagram that stays off the live site.
