YouTubers With 1 Million Subscribers: 89 Creators by Niche

5/5 - (5 votes)

Only 79,570 of the 61.2 million YouTube channels in the vidIQ July 2026 channel index have reached seven figures. That works out to 1 channel in 769. I compiled 89 individual creators who currently sit between 1.0 million and 2.0 million subscribers, across 19 niches, and paired each with its engagement rate.

Brands, TV networks and media companies are left out, so every name below is a person or a small creator team. Subscriber counts come from YouTube Data API snapshots published in 2026, and engagement means likes plus comments per 100 views on recent long form uploads.

Quick answer: Well known creators in the one million bracket include Nathaniel Drew (1.8M), J. Kenji López-Alt (1.8M), Eva zu Beck (1.9M), Neil Patel (1.6M), Tech With Tim (1.97M), Ross Draws (1.4M) and Noah Kagan (1.2M). The full list of 89 follows, grouped by niche.

What My Analysis Found

  • The median creator on this list has 1.4 million subscribers and a 4.3% engagement rate.
  • Art creators engage 3.2 times harder than coding creators (8.65% against 2.69%), yet education channels earn the highest ad rate on YouTube at $10.22 per 1,000 views.
  • At the median growth pace for million plus channels, 4,234 new subscribers a month, going from 1 million to 2 million takes 19.7 years.
  • A sponsor paying $15 to $50 per 1,000 views spends $450 to $5,000 on one video from a typical 1M channel, far below the $40,000+ quoted in rate cards.
  • MIgardener posts the highest engagement on the list at 10.2%, ahead of every art and beauty creator.

Which Niches Engage Best at This Size

Art and beauty audiences respond hardest; coding audiences watch quietly.

Hobby niches top the chart. Viewers who paint, garden or build furniture comment with questions and show their own results, while coding viewers watch a tutorial, copy the code and leave. Coding engagement also comes from a separate data source, so treat the gap as directional.

What a Channel This Size Earns

Ad revenue per 1 million views by niche.

A one million subscriber channel earns $9,000 to $195,000+ a month across ads, sponsors and memberships, according to AIR Media-Tech, which tracked 300 monetized channels from May 2025 to May 2026. The niche decides most of the gap: one million views pays $10,220 in education and $330 in kids content, a 31 to 1 spread.

Here is the catch most earnings guides skip. AIR finds that a typical upload reaches 3% to 10% of subscribers, so a 1M channel pulls 30,000 to 100,000 views per video. At the sponsor rate of $15 to $50 per 1,000 views, one integration pays $450 to $5,000. The $40,000+ deals in rate cards go to channels whose views run far above their subscriber count.

Monthly Ad Revenue for a 1M Channel at Three View Levels (2026)

Monthly ViewsEducation RPM $10.22Median RPM $2.30Kids RPM $0.33
200,000$2,044$460$66
1,000,000$10,220$2,300$330
3,000,000$30,660$6,900$990

Why Most Channels Stall Past One Million

vidIQ measured median growth over 90 days to July 2026. Channels with 1 million or more subscribers added 4,234 a month, or 0.24%. At that pace, I calculate 236 months, or 19.7 years, to double from 1 million to 2 million. Channels between 100,000 and 999,999 added a median of 672 a month, which would take 111 years to reach 1 million.

The math shows that median growth fails to produce a million subscriber channel. Every creator on this list beat the median by a wide margin through a breakout video, a series format or a niche with little competition.

How I Built This List

  • Subscriber and engagement data for 18 niches come from the vloggingpro creator charts, built on the YouTube Data API and accurate as of July 2026.
  • Coding data comes from the developereducators ranking, verified in October 2026.
  • Channels between 1.0 million and 1.99 million subscribers made the cut. Counts shown as 2.0M were left off, since the true figure sits at or above two million.
  • Brands, news outlets, TV networks and education companies were removed, along with channels showing 0.0% engagement.
