Kimi Claw Review (2026): Features, Pricing, Pros & Cons, Alternatives

5/5 - (5 votes)

Kimi Claw is the easiest way to run an always-on OpenClaw agent without touching a server, but at $39/month (Allegretto tier) it costs far more than self-hosting and comes with real privacy and control trade-offs.

It suits non-technical users and existing Kimi subscribers who value convenience; developers and privacy-sensitive businesses will usually do better elsewhere.

Our rating: 3.5 / 5 – excellent onboarding, average value, open questions on data handling.

What is Kimi Claw?

kimi claw AI review

Kimi Claw is Moonshot AI’s hosted version of OpenClaw, the popular open-source AI agent that can remember context, use tools, and act on its own schedule. Instead of installing OpenClaw on a VPS or leaving your laptop on, you open kimi.com/bot, click deploy, and your agent runs in Moonshot’s cloud around the clock.

The key distinction: OpenClaw is the engine, Kimi Claw is the managed wrapper around it. Moonshot supplies the hosting, the Kimi model, the account system, and a curated route into the ClawHub skill library .

This makes Kimi Claw closer to a personal automation worker than a chatbot. It can run scheduled reports, monitor sources, send reminders, and chain skills together while you are offline.

Since launch, Moonshot has widened the options. As of August 2026 you can run Claw on its managed cloud server, as a desktop app with local file access, on a spare Android phone, or by linking an OpenClaw instance you already host .

Key features

Kimi Claw’s headline features are one-click deployment, 24/7 uptime, 5,000+ skills, and 40 GB of storage — all reached from a browser tab.

FeatureWhat it doesWhy it matters
One-click cloud deploymentSpins up an isolated OpenClaw instance on Moonshot’s serversNo Docker, VPS, or terminal needed
24/7 operationAgent keeps running when your laptop is offEnables scheduled and proactive tasks
ClawHub skill library5,000+ community skills (search, data analysis, image processing, coding, email, Stripe, Google Docs)Describe a workflow and Claw picks and chains skills for you
40 GB cloud storagePersistent space for files, reports, and long-term memory dataHandles larger datasets than most hosted agents
Pro-Grade SearchLive web search and data fetching (e.g. financial data)Answers are current, not limited to model cutoff
Long-term memory and personalityRemembers preferences and context across sessionsBehaves like a persistent assistant, not a fresh chat
Scheduled tasksRuns jobs on a timetable (daily briefs, monitoring, reminders)Turns the agent into a background worker
Bring Your Own Claw (BYOC)Links an existing self-hosted OpenClaw to the Kimi interfaceKeep your config, use Kimi’s UI and model
Messaging channelsTelegram and other chat-app integrationsTalk to your agent from your phone
Desktop and Android modesRun locally with file access, or use an idle Android phone as hostAlternatives to the cloud server
Group agents (beta)Shared Claw experiences for groupsEarly-stage; features may change

One caveat on the skill count: 5,000+ skills is a catalog, not a quality guarantee. ClawHub skills are community-built and vary widely in reliability, and at least one has been reported to silently collect user data .

How to get started

Setup takes a few minutes once you are on an eligible plan.

  1. Subscribe to Kimi’s Allegretto plan or higher (Kimi Claw is paid-only).
  2. Go to kimi.com/bot or open the Kimi Claw sidebar.
  3. Choose a deployment path: managed cloud, desktop, Android, or link an existing OpenClaw.
  4. Give your agent a name and personality, then describe your first task in plain language.
  5. Optionally connect Telegram or another messaging channel.
  6. Set up schedules for recurring jobs and review which skills the agent is allowed to use.

Safety tip: start with harmless test data and narrowly scoped accounts, and require your approval before the agent sends messages, makes purchases, or deletes anything.

Pricing and plans

Kimi Claw has no standalone price: it is bundled into Kimi membership, and the cheapest plan that includes it is Allegretto at $39/month. Moonshot’s privacy notice says Claw is available only to paid subscribers.

PlanMonthly (USD)Annual (per month)Kimi Claw?
Adagio (Free)$0$0No
Moderato$19$15No
Allegretto$39$31Yes
Allegro$99$79Yes
Vivace$199$159Yes

The hidden cost: shared credits

The monthly fee is not the whole story. Every Kimi feature — Claw, Deep Research, slides, Kimi Code, K3 chat, Agent Swarm — draws from one shared credit pool, so heavy use of one feature starves the others.

A deployed Claw cloud host reportedly deducts about 0.6% of your monthly credits per day just to stay online, which works out to roughly 18% of the pool each month before any tasks run. Budget for that when choosing a tier.

Kimi membership and the Moonshot developer API are billed separately. A membership does not give you API tokens, and API credit does not unlock Kimi Claw.

Pros

Kimi Claw’s biggest strength is removing the setup barrier to always-on agents.

  • Genuinely one-click setup. Reviewers consistently call deployment simple enough for beginners, with no servers, Docker, or config files.
  • Runs 24/7 without your hardware. Scheduled and proactive tasks continue while your devices are off.
  • Huge skill catalog out of the box. ClawHub skills are available from chat, and the agent can choose and chain them for you.
  • Generous 40 GB storage. More room for files and memory than most hosted agent products.
  • Flexible deployment. Cloud, desktop, Android, or Bring Your Own Claw gives more options than most competitors.
  • Strong, pre-wired model. Ships configured with Kimi K2.6 Thinking, so there is no API key or model setup.
  • Good value if you already pay for Kimi. Allegretto also includes Kimi Code, Agent Swarm, Deep Research, and slides, so Claw is an add-on rather than a separate bill.

Cons

The main drawbacks are price relative to self-hosting, limited control, and data privacy.

  • Expensive compared with self-hosting. Boxmining’s tester paid $39–40/month and noted a self-hosted OpenClaw can run for around $2/month on cheap hosting, plus model API costs.
  • No free tier or trial. You must commit to at least Allegretto to try it.
  • Credit drain. The cloud host consumes credits daily, and Claw shares its pool with every other Kimi feature.
  • Limited control. No terminal access on the managed cloud host, so deep customisation needs BYOC or self-hosting.
  • Reliability gaps. Early testers reported timeouts on long runs and no access to X (Twitter) data; another review flagged limited file access on the cloud version.
  • Privacy and jurisdiction. Moonshot is a Beijing-based company. Its Claw privacy notice allows user content to be used to improve services, including model training. Think carefully before connecting business or customer data.
  • Third-party skill risk. Community skills add supply-chain and prompt-injection risk; review each one before enabling it.
  • Still partly beta. Group features and some deployment modes are evolving, so rough edges remain.

Kimi Claw vs alternatives

Kimi Claw beats self-hosted OpenClaw on ease but loses on cost and control; Manus and Perplexity Computer are task agents rather than always-on assistants.

Final verdict

Kimi Claw is the fastest on-ramp to a 24/7 personal AI agent available today, but convenience is what you are paying for. If you already use Kimi Allegretto or want an agent running tonight with no technical work, it is worth trying. If you care about cost, control, or where your data lives, a self-hosted OpenClaw (optionally powered by a Kimi API key) is the better long-term setup.
